Classical Music Fans Flock to the Hot Springs Music Festival 6/2-15/13

The 18th season of the Hot Springs Music Festival will combine world-class mentor musicians with exceptionally talented pre-professional apprentices for a one-of-a-kind event found only in the Spa City. For two weeks, June 2-15, 2013, Hot Springs audiences will be treated to orchestral, chamber, solo recital, vocal, and choral concerts and open rehearsals.  If you want to find me on opening night, I’ll be at the Arlington Hotel Ballroom, listening to the performance of my friend Eric Whitacre‘s Five Hebrew Love Songs by the Festival Chorus!
The 2012 festival attracted over 10,000 people, and 2013 proves to be just as exciting.  The 100 Best Small Arts Towns in America states, “the Hot Springs Music Festival has carved out a place on the nation’s classical music map.”  Events will take place in a variety of venues, from The Arlington Hotel Terrace, area churches, a progressive concert down Historic Bathhouse Row, and Summit Arena.
Season 18:  Coming of Age will celebrate the 200th birthdays of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner, and Benjamin Britten’s 100th.  Concerts will be held every night, and rehearsals are open to the public each day. Advanced tickets and festival passes can be purchased by calling 501-623-4763.  Tickets can also be purchased at the door, based on available seating.  Rehearsals are free and open to the public.  All evens are casual attire.
